The HC1 features a rubberized insert in the lid, to ensure there is no rattling from the batteries. Gone are the days of plastic bags filled with unorganized batteries. Storing batteries in ziploc style bags can be detrimental because 1) they can allow moisture in to corrode your batteries and 2) they allow the ends of the batteries to touch unintentionally, potentially causing a fire hazard.

The HC1 is water resistant with a TPU o-ring. I have personally tested it submerged underwater, but please know there is no official water proof rating.
